This month, ISEC7 will discuss how ISEC7 CLASSIFY can help satisfy CMMC and CUI marking requirements, highlight the latest ISEC7 SPHERE update with ServiceNow integration, delve into crisis communication with BlackBerry® AtHoc®, and share our best practices for cyber hygiene when traveling this summer, as well as our upcoming events.

Be CMMC Ready with ISEC7 CLASSIFY for CUI
CMMC 2.0 applies to all contractors and subcontractors within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain. One of the major requirements of CMMC 2.0 is protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), government-designated information that requires safeguarding to prevent unauthorized access and misuse. However, many people struggle with the proper handling of CUI; this is a major problem because if CUI is not protected, sensitive government information could be accessed by cybercriminals, foreign entities, or malicious insiders. This is where ISEC7’s data marking and classification tool ISEC7 CLASSIFY comes into play.
ISEC7 CLASSIFY is a simple-to-deploy, lightweight solution that takes the guesswork out of implementing a CUI program by defining all CUI categories, as well as dissemination controls. This helps ensure secure and compliant handling of classified information and prevent unauthorized access or distribution that could compromise national security, privacy, or other government operations. ISEC7 CLASSIFY verifies recipient domains and distinguishes between trusted and untrusted email addresses to help prevent spillage and enhances data security by alerting users when classified information is sent outside a verified list so that any spillage can be tracked.
ISEC7 CLASSIFY enforces document marking and prevents emails from being sent without classification, applying protection to the message body, subject, and attachments and ensuring that all Emails, Calendar entries, and SharePoint pages are properly marked and compliant with laws and regulations.
Designed to prevent users from mistakenly or maliciously classifying their communications incorrectly, ISEC7 CLASSIFY is an essential tool for contractors and any agencies with data protection requirements. For those who must adhere to CMMC or have questions about data marking, data classification, CUI, or ISEC7 CLASSIFY, please don’t hesitate to contact the ISEC7 team with any questions you may have.

Streamlining IT Incident Management: ISEC7 SPHERE ServiceNow Integration
We’re excited to announce that the recent release of ISEC7 SPHERE 20.7.0 includes support for leading ITSM solution ServiceNow. This new interoperability allows status changes in servers and environments to automatically trigger Incident Management within ServiceNow, via the ServiceNow API.
ServiceNow Incident Management is a structured approach to managing the lifecycle of incidents, which are defined as unplanned interruptions to IT services or reductions in service quality. It involves a set of workflows and processes designed to identify, log, resolve, and close incidents efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. ServiceNow allows for quick implementation of incident management processes, follows IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) guidelines, emphasizing best practices for IT service management, and helps organizations analyze incidents to prevent future occurrences, enhancing overall service quality.
With this interoperability enabled, ISEC7 SPHERE provides near real time updates into ServiceNow, which means fewer manual steps, faster response times, and a clearer view into the health of your monitored infrastructure, giving your team back valuable time.

Crisis Communication with BlackBerry® AtHoc®
Crisis communication platforms are vital for the public sector, enabling swift, coordinated responses to emergencies—from natural disasters to cyberattacks. These tools deliver real-time updates, counter misinformation, and enable two-way communication to protect public safety. In critical moments, they ensure transparency, save lives, and keep services running.
BlackBerry® AtHoc® is a leading emergency notification platform that works alongside SecuSUITE® to secure communications in diverse threat scenarios. With flexible deployment options, AtHoc® integrates seamlessly with SIEM platforms and legacy systems not designed for outbound alerting.
In today’s dispersed work environment, getting alerts to the right people across various devices is essential. Integrated with AtHoc®, ISEC7 SPHERE gathers alerts from sources like IoT devices and relays them when action is needed—streamlining and unifying communications. AtHoc® supports targeted responses even when traditional channels fail, sending alerts via SMS, voice, email, app, and push notifications. Employees can confirm receipt, report threats, and stay informed until resolution.
Crisis response requires proven systems, not improvisation. BlackBerry® AtHoc® empowers organizations to coordinate securely and in real time – when every second counts. For more information, feel free to reach out to BlackBerry® partner ISEC7.

Stay Cyber Safe While Soaking Up the Sun: Best Practices
As summer travel ramps up, it’s easy to let your guard down, but cyber threats don’t take vacations. While most people remember to use strong passwords and avoid public Wi-Fi, savvy travelers know it’s the less obvious habits that make the difference.
Before you leave, disable auto-connect on your devices to prevent them from joining rogue networks without your knowledge. Traveling internationally? Consider using a secondary travel device or creating a guest profile with limited access to company apps and data. And don’t forget about physical security; public charging stations may be convenient, but they’re a growing vector for “juice jacking” attacks. Use a USB data blocker or carry your own wall charger instead.
Finally, be cautious with social sharing; broadcasting your location in real time can tip off bad actors that your home – and your data – may be unguarded. Stay sharp, stay secure, and make sure your digital footprint is as clean as your beach towel!

Did You Know?
On This Day in Cybersecurity History (June 17, 1997): A group of hackers successfully cracked the Data Encryption Standard (DES), once considered the strongest encryption legally exportable from the U.S. It took them five months, but their success highlighted the growing need for stronger encryption protocols and helped pave the way for modern cryptographic standards.
